Design by Poul Thorsbjerg Jensen, 1957
The Z Chair was designed by Poul Thorsbjerg Jensen in 1957 and stands among the most iconic pieces of the Danish Mid-Century Modern era.
One of the distinctive features of the chair is its unique Z-shape, formed by the fusion of the V-shaped arms and legs. The Z-shaped geometric lines give the chair a sharply articulated silhouette, while also allowing for ergonomic support. The chair is crafted from solid wood in either oak or walnut, and comes with hand-sewn cushions, upholstered in leather or fabric.
The Z Chair was
originally launched in 1957, and was manufactured at Christian Jensen’s
Møbelsnedkeri, founded by Poul Thorsbjerg Jensen’s grandfather. In 2025, dk3
relaunches the iconic design, and just like the original, the chair is still manufactured
in Denmark.
With its classic and timeless design, the Z Chair not only embodies the design principles of its era but also continues to inspire admiration today.
