Design by Jacob Plejdrup, 2011
In 2011, dk3 launched the TREE TABLE as a natural continuance of the plank table design heritage of the dk3_3 table from 2009. To emphasize the concept of combining wild wood and minimalistic design, dk3 founder and designer Jacob Plejdrup chose to use whole solid wood planks with hand-sanded natural edges, and so a new classic plank table was born. In 2012, the TREE TABLE was further introduced in a coffee table version based on the same design and wood types as the dining table.
The TREE TABLE is a perfectly balanced natural design. On top of the simple steel construction lie solid wooden planks shaped by nature and crafted by the industry's most skilled hands. The table combines true craftsmanship and innovative engineering, and the result is visually striking.
In oak, the TREE TABLE is always made of two whole planks taken from the same tree trunk. Each plank has its own unique form and structure containing different natural characteristics like knots and small cracks, and the natural edges are gently sanded by hand. Each TREE TABLE is individually numbered, and a discrete plate on the table edge testifies the originality of the table.

TREE TABLE is a perfectly balanced natural design combining true craftsmanship and innovative engineering. On top of the simple steel construction lie solid wooden planks in different wood types. Each plank has its own form and structure with natural outer edges, cracks and knots, which gives a unique table top. All knots and cracks are filled in order to preserve a user-friendly surface, and the natural edges are gently hand-sanded.
Contrary to normal solid wood tables, the TREE TABLE is made of extremely wide planks, which are prone to cracking, particularly in the winter and especially at the end of the planks. In addition, the planks may twist, and although the planks are always made from the same tree, there will in most cases be differences between the two planks. These facts are intensified, if the TREE TABLE is exposed to changing humidity, direct sunlight or direct heat from radiators.
